Planet Arcturus is the fourth planet in the Arcturus system of the Alpha Quadrant.
Arcturus IV's general climate is classified as warm and temperate with seven moons.
The principal star is on the northern constellation Bootes.
Arcturus or Alpha Boo is a double star system at 36.7 LY.
The main star is a giant K2III bigger than our Sun (see picture), the other is a white dwarf DA.
The nearest systems are Beta Com (11.9 LY), Beta Cvn aka Chara (19.3 LY) and Denobula (20.9 LY).
History
Arcturians have moved two times planets, once when the star became a subgiant (K2IV),
and twice when the star became recently a giant (K2III).
Arcturus IV is a warm and tropical planet, homeworld of the Arcturian people after terraforming.
Status: Federation Member admitted in 2273.
The 18th president of UFP : Jacob Varis comes from Arcturus IV in 2249-2252.
